Smart Blocks: Placement
AutoCAD 2024 has introduced a smart block functionality that suggests block placement based on past placements within the drawing. This new feature aims to improve productivity by decreasing the time and effort required to place frequently used blocks.
The block placement engine uses existing block placement in drawings to infer the placement of new blocks. It suggests placements close to similar geometries where blocks have been placed before. This means that as you insert new blocks, the engine learns from your previous placements and provides suggestions that are more accurate and similar to your past placements.
For example, the feature automatically positions blocks near corners. If a chair block has already been placed near a wall corner, inserting another instance of that same chair block will cause AutoCAD to position it in a similar manner. As the block is moved, walls are highlighted and the position and rotation of the block are adjusted accordingly. This feature can save time and streamline the design process.
