The Schematic Symbol Table


A schematic symbol table is a detailed report that provides information on symbols used in electrical and electronic schematics. It lists the symbols, their respective names, and descriptions, enabling users to understand the meaning of each symbol in schematic diagrams. The purpose of the schematic symbol table is to provide standardization and consistency in circuit design and communication, which is critical for effective collaboration and successful project completion.

The schematic report provides a table of symbols used in the project, with accompanying descriptions. This makes it easy to identify and understand each symbol's meaning. Additionally, users can quickly find all instances of a particular symbol within the project.


To create a schematic symbol table:

  1. Click Reports tab > Schematic panel > Reports.

  2. In the Schematic Report dialog box, under Report Name, select Symbol List.

  3. Click OK.

  4. In the Select Drawings to Process dialog box, click Do All. Note: This will process all the drawings in the project.

  5. Click OK.

  6. In the Report Generator dialog box, click Put on Drawing to insert the table in the drawing.

  7. In the Schematic Symbol Blocks Graphical Table dialog box, specify the number of symbols for each column or scale factor, if necessary. Click OK.

  8. At prompt, select the location of the first cell of the table in the drawing.
